The female MPAs of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid in the Punjab Assembly have criticised the provincial budget for 2012-13 and described it as a document of fraud and contradictions.
Taking part in the general discussion on the budget in the provincial assembly on Wednesday, they said there are contradictions in the budget as the departments which demanded lesser amount of money were promised more, which made it sheer fraud.
Samina Khawar Hayat said Ch Parvez Elahi had left a province which had a surplus of Rs 100 billion but today Punjab is under debt. She stated that the PML-Q wanted the same surplus province and not a debt-ridden province.
She said the chief minister had denounced reliance on foreign aid, but now 85 percent of the province’s loans were foreign loans on which billions were being paid as interest.
She said only one day ahead of the budget presentation, the Punjab government had secured an overdraft of Rs 15 billion.
She said Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, on coming to power again, will put Punjab on the road to progress and development.
Dr Faiza Asghar said the Punjab government has no policy or vision for health. She said nine innocent children died in the Services Hospital, but nobody was held responsible for the negligence. She stated that even on a natural death in a private hospital, an FIR can be registered under 302.
She added that the Child Protection Bureau has been made a victim of politics and the children who have no one to look after them, have been left to the mercy of circumstances and criminal elements.
Taking part in the general discussion Khadija Umar Farooqi said those claiming to have constructed model villages in South Punjab should also inform why they could not provide funds for the reconstruction of two thousand schools which were destroyed by heavy floods.
She said a joke was being played with women under the pretext of the pink buses.
She stated that those who have not given representation to women in the cabinet could not talk about a 15 percent quota and the allocation of billions of rupees.
She said the Cardiology Centre of Wazirabad is not in Waziristan or Balochistan and that the construction of the centre has been completed but it is not functional only because it was completed by Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.
She asked the present rulers to have mercy on the people of Punjab and take some positive and practical steps leaving aside the plaques show.
