Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday that President Asif Ali Zardari, the incumbent government and the intelligence agencies are behind the Arsalan Iftikhar case while the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) members sitting on the back benches in the Punjab assembly are supporters of real estate tycoon, Malik Riaz.
Speaking to reporters outside the Punjab Assembly, Sanaullah said Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry should not step down from his office as he was not accountable for a crime committed by any member of his family, adding that if someone from the chief justice’s family is found involved in a crime, then he should be punished according to the law of the land.
Sanaullah urged the court to expose all those politicians, anchor persons and army generals who had received BMW vehicles and extracted financial benefits from Malik Riaz.
He stated that Malik has openly confessed his crime and should be held accountable for his mistakes.
The provincial minister said everyone knows who was behind making video films and photographing Arsalan during his trips abroad, adding that the incumbent government had hatched the conspiracy against the chief justice to malign him and to force him to step down.
The Punjab law minister added that if former Pakistani ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, was held responsible in the memogate scandal then the president should also be held responsible for his criminals acts as he should not have appointed Haqqani as an envoy.
Sanaullah said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is gaining popularity among the masses by sitting in the camp at Minar-e-Pakistan as a mark of protest against the long load shedding hours in Punjab.ftikhar conspiracy:
