CM condoles Mehdi Hassan’s death

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of legendary singer Medhi Hassan who passed away here on Wednesday after protracted illness.
In a condolence message, he said that late Medhi Hassan was termed as `Shahanshah-i-Ghazal’ owing to his exceptional expertise in ghazal-singing and classical music.
He said that the services of the deceased in the realms of music and singing would be long remembered all over the world. Chief Minister said that Medhi Hasan’s demise has created a vaccum in the sphere of music which is difficult to be filled. He also prayed to Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Chief Minister’s Special Assistants Rashid Hussain Rabbani and Waqar Medhi have also condoled the demise of Medhi Hassan. They said that the deceased’s services in the relams of music would always be remembered.
ICMAP declares result of new fall: The National Council of the Institute of Cost and management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) on Wednesday declared the results for New Fall April 2012 Examination.
Billimoria Gold Medal was awarded to Arslan Tariq, Registration No. 20100635, Roll No. 5064.
This Medal is awarded to the candidate passing all the subjects of Stage-4 in his first attempt in the same examination and obtains the highest marks, but not less than 65% marks in the subject of Advanced Financial Accounting and Analysis- Stage-4.
Mian Mumtaz Abdullah Gold medal was awarded to Ms. Kokab Rizwan, Registration No. 20100622, Roll No. 5054. This medal is awarded to the candidate passing all subjects of Stage -4 in first attempt in the same examination and obtains the highest marks, but not less than 65% marks in the subject of Corporate Laws and Secretarial Practices- Stage- 4.
PN rescues fishermen near Churna Island: Pakistan Navy has rescued 21 fishermen onboard a fishing boat Bin Muhammad II near Churna island in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday.
A Pakistan Navy press release issued here said that upon receiving distress call from the fishing boat, Pakistan Navy immediately mobilized its three ships PNS Shamsheer, PNS Alamgir and PNS Zulfiquar along with two helicopters operating in the area to undertake search and rescue operation. The rescue team spotted the fishing boat and after hectic operation spanning over three hours, rescued all 21 fishermen onboard. The rescued persons were shifted to PN ship Alamgir where they were given necessary medical treatment and food. Later, the ship sailed for Karachi along with the rescued fishermen.
Fire gutted in cotton factory: A cotton factory reduced into ashes when fire broke out here on Wednesday, causing a loss of millions of rupees. The inferno broke out in Muhammad Shafiq Cotton Factory in the SITE area.
According to the manager, spark in a machine in the refinery section led to the fire.
