A suicide bomber targeted a former union council nazim in the outskirts of Peshawar district on Tuesday, killing two of his police guards and injuring another four.
According to a senior police official, the former Bazeedkhel Union Council nazim, Faheem Khan was the target of the attack that took place in Bazeedkhel Chawk area of Badhabher, but as he was not in the vehicle at the time, he was not hurt. However, his driver and bodyguards were killed and injured. Superintendent of Police Shafiullah Khan said the suicide bomber blew himself up when Khan’s vehicle reached Bazeedkhel Chawk. Officials said around six to seven kilogrammes of explosives were used in the attack. They confirmed that two men were killed on the spot and another two were injured, who were taken to Lady Reading Hospital where their condition was stated to be in danger. Those killed were identified as Abdul Jabbar, son of Raaz Mohammad and Naheedullah, son of Mohammad Jan. Both were policemen on duty with the former nazim. The injured were identified as Anwar Shah, Mohammad Asghar, Abdul Basit and Waliullah. Khan had recently reactivated a peace lashkar in the area after holding a detailed meeting with high-ranking police officers. He has survived several attacks in the past several years.
