After the Sindh Assembly secretariat had earlier decided to issue newspaper advertisement as the final notice to summon Chaudhry Nisar, the opposition leader in the National Assembly before the assembly’s privilege committee, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has finally submitted its reply in the assembly, it is learnt.
In its meeting on May 30, 2012, chairman of the Sindh assembly’s privilege committee MPA Mujadid Isran had directed Secretary Hadi Bux Buriro to give advertisement summoning opposition leader, as a last warning, before the committee’s meeting scheduled for June 18. However, the final warning has compelled the PML-N leadership to file a reply.
In this regard, PML-N leaders Saleem Zia and Ameer Bux Bhutto, son of Sardar Mumtaz Bhutto who recently joined PML-N, visited office of the Secretary Sindh Assembly Hadi Bux and submitted a written reply on behalf of Chaudhry Nisar. And now the Nisar’s reply would be presented before the privilege committee, sources told Pakistan Today.
According to the reply submitted, it was clearly mentioned that Chaudhry Nisar had not passed derogatory remarks against the culture of Sindh. And, the motion was moved just for doing politics, which has nothing to do with the reality, sources added.
It is recalled here that a MPA from the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party Imran Zafar Leghari had moved a motion against Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for allegedly using, what the member claimed, derogatory remarks against the culture of Sindh. “I do hereby give notice under rule 58, and 59, of the rules of procedure of provincial assembly of Sindh to move this privilege motion. I being, the public representative/member of the provincial assembly of Sindh do hereby move a privilege motion that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has used derogatory remarks for the honorable members of the Sindh Assembly during a press conference on March 13, 2011 while further criticizing the cultural attire of the people of Sindh reflecting his degrading and bitter attitude, Mr. Chaudhry has greatly hurt the sentiments of the people of Sindh”, as per the motion moved by MPA Imran. Under the Rules of Business of the Sindh Assembly, the sources said Chaudhry Nisar was supposed to be personally available and clear his position against the motion moved before the Rules of Procedure and Privileges Committee of the Sindh Assembly.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Imran Leghari alleged Chaudhry Nisar had used derogatory remarks against the elected MPAs and MNAs of the Sindh province while addressing a news conference on March 13, 2011. The call letters were forwarded to Chaudhry Nisar through Secretary National Assembly and directly through courier service to clear his stance against what he had said however he took the letters so lightly that he did not bother to reply. Moreover, Imran said he would bring a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against Chaudhry Nisar if he (Chaudhry Nisar) fails to ensure his presence before the Privilege Committee.
