Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) endorsed the strike started by the traders of Karachi after the brother of MQM’s ex-MPA was shot dead earlier. Unknown gunmen fired at the brothers of Shakir Ali, killing one and severely injuring the other. MQM is calling for a stop to such violent activities and demands the capture of the shooters. The MQM Rabitta Committee and Karachi Transport Ittehaad have also shown their support for the strike.
Feelings of insecurity have gripped the city. The Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Karachi, Federal Urdu University, and Jinnah University for Women have responded by delaying all exams scheduled for today (Wednesday). The rescheduled dates for these exams will be announced later.
