Adviser to Prime Minster on Interior Rehman Malik Tuesday said that fool proof security arrangements, including air surveillance, would be provided during the hearing of high profile cases in the Supreme Court.
A high-level meeting headed by Rehman Malik was held in the capital to review all the possible measures in this regard. Rehman Malik directed the chief commissioner and the IG police to finalise the security arrangements. Meanwhile, Rehman Malik announced that the ban has been imposed on the entry of irrelevant persons in the premises of the Supreme Court. He appealed to the people to hold their NICs while entering the red zone. He said that alternative traffic routes would be opened for the traffic to avert traffic problems in the red zone.
He directed the ministry to provide two helicopters for air surveillance of the court.
PBC condemns threats to Asma Jehangir: The Pakistan Bar Council, in a resolution, strongly condemned the life threats given to former Supreme Court Bar president Asma Jehangir.
The resolution, proposed by Burhan Moazzam Malik, chairman, executive committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, termed conspiracy against Asma Jehangir a shameful act.
The resolution stated that the PBC was of the view that dubious role of the Establishment has caused great damage to the country over the years. In fact, it is the duty and responsibility of the people of Pakistan through their chosen representatives in democratically elected parliament to take such decisions as would not only strengthen the country but also ensure its development and save its future apart from its recognition and acceptance at international horizon as a democratic state.
No insulin for diabetics in BBH: Owing to the suspension of insulin supply to Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBH), health condition of diabetes patients has started deteriorating day by day as they are forced to relay on alternative medicines.
According to sources, diabetes patients who are getting treatment from Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBH) are facing hard time as the supply of insulin to the hospital has been suspended for last two weeks.
The medicine is not available for both indoor and outdoor patients while majority of the patients have relied on alternative medicines as they are not in a position to purchase the insulin from market.
However, free medicines and checkup facilities have been provided by the hospital as a special care centre for diabetes patients has been set up in the hospital, but suspension of insulin supply to the clinic is causing inconveniences for the patients.
