An interactive session was conducted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in collaboration with Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) at the ICCI House. Working groups formed during the session learnt about Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reforms. The groups also discussed some proposals appropriate for National Qualification Framework in Pakistan. Members of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also present on the occasion, Jermy Curtis, an expert on NQF, GIZ and TVET Reform Support Programme, gave a detailed presentation on the NQF programme for Pakistan, its objectives, role and the benefits for employees as well as for Pakistan as a nation.
He also briefed the participants on NQF development, curriculum development and competency standard development. He also said that through NQF development, Pakistan’s economic growth will be enhanced.
Police at check posts harassing citizens: Around 372 police check posts in the federal capital have become a source of inconvenience for citizens, commuters and transporters. According to sources, these check posts have been set up under the direction of SSP Muhammad Yousaf Malik while the police officials deployed at the halting points are involved in manhandling. Meanwhile, strength of patrolling police has been reduced and deployed at the check posts and police halting points as a result of which patrolling police has lost its importance. Moreover, the output of these check posts and halting points is almost zero while the officials who are deployed at the halting points are getting bribes without any fear.
