Girls’ rape case: court orders judicial probe

On District Coordination Officer’s application, District and Sessions Judge of DG Khan on Tuesday ordered judicial investigation in the case of alleged gang rape of five girls at Fort Munro. The five victim girls also appeared before district and sessions court in DG Khan. During the hearing, DCO Iftikhar Ali submitted a petition in the court for judicial inquiry on the case. The judge ordered to investigate the issue under the supervision of civil judge Muzahar Mehar. Political administration had directed that the victim girls and the accused be sent to Lahore for conducting their medical tests. In the last hearing, the court had sent the girls to Dar-ul-Aman on the request of Border Military Police (BMP). However, heirs of the girls appealed the court to hand over the girls to them. The court directed to produce the girls before the court for identification of their heirs. On the other hand, investigation from the arrested accused is underway while the other two accused have not been arrested so far.
