A three-day faculty board meeting of Faculty of Science, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), began Tuesday at its main campus with experts from across the country. While presiding over the opening session, Dr Nowshad Khan said that Faculty of Science AIOU has made shining progress during the last two years under the dynamic leadership of Professor Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi, vice chancellor of the university. Dr Sangi paid special attention to education of the students living in far-flung areas and belonging to deprived section of the society, he said.
On the occasion, Professor Dr Abdul Hafiz, dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, said that the AIOU Faculty of Science has earned a good name in upgrading the university’s level, especially for the promotion of higher education. Various matters and agenda items of the departments relating to new academic programmes on BS, MS and Ph.D in the new disciplines will be discussed in various sessions during the three-day conference. Prominent among those attending the meeting include Nowshad Khan, lecturer, Institute of Development Studies, KPK Agricultural University, Peshawar, Imtiaz Ahmed, director, forestry, PARC, Dr Sajjad-ur-Rehman, professor, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Dr M Aziz Chaudhary, chairman, Department of Chemistry, Mirpur University of Science and Technology, Mirpur, Prof Dr Muhammad Sher, chairman, International Islamic University, Islamabad and Dr Abdul Majid, associate professor, NISTE, Islamabad.
