Responding to one of the queries put up by property tycoon Malik Riaz about the meetings of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry with him, the SC registrar said the meetings took place when the chief justice had been sacked. In a statement issued shortly after Riaz’s press conference in which he leveled serious allegations against the chief justice, Supreme Court Registrar Faqir Hussain said two to three such meetings took place between Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry and Malik Riaz when the former had been sacked.
Faqir said during the meeting, it was proposed that meeting be arranged between Asif Ali Zardari and the Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. Talking to a private television, he said the CJ flatly declined to have such a meeting as it would have been inappropriate. The SC registrar said he was also present during the meetings with Malik Riaz and the chief justice.
