Clashes between rival militants claim two lives

Two people, including a militant commander, were killed and several others injured as a result of clashes between gun totting militants from rival groups in Khyber Agency’s Tirah Valley on Monday. Reports from Tirah said militants from Ansarul Islam group allegedly attacked a vehicle of rival Lashkar-e-Islam with an improvised explosive devise (IED). As a result, an LI commander was killed and two others got injured.
In retaliation, the LI attacked a compound run by Ansarul Islam and shot dead one of its commander. The rival groups are engaged in hostilities against each others for the last several years. Meanwhile, security forces and the political administration of South Waziristan Agency continued search operation in Wana on the second day running. The forces succeeded in recovering a huge quantity of weapon from militant’s compounds and hideouts in Rustam Bazaar. Officials in Wana said a number of shops, hotels and other commercial properties, owned by militants or their relatives had been demolished during the operation. The operation was started on Sunday and is likely to continue until Wednesday.
