The businesspersons related to the gems and jewelry industry across the Line of Control (LoC) urged the governments of India and Pakistan to devise a meticulous plan to facilitate cargo movement and rationalize customs duties on the two sides.
The demand was made during a press conference at Karachi Press Club held Sunday by a 20-member Indian visiting delegation and their Pakistani hosts from the Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company (PGJDC).
Led by Sanjay Kothari, the Indian business delegation had arrived in Pakistan on the invite of PGJDC to participate in the Gems and Jewellery Exhibition held during June 7-10 in this metropolis.
Addressing the post-exhibition briefing, Kothari wondered how Pakistani authorities had issued visas to the delegation on a less than 36 hours notice.
The four-day event was well attended by the businessmen from at least 55 countries from Asia and European regions.
