Several mega health projects, including the construction of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, a 400-bed civil hospital in Bahawalpur, four new medical colleges in Sialkot, Sahiwal, Gujranwala and DG Khan, the establishment of the Ameer-ud-Din Medical College in Lahore and burn units in Faisalabad and Multan will be completed in the next fiscal year.
This was stated by the Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique after a meeting held on Monday to review the pace of work on mega health projects in Punjab.
He said Rs.8.71 billion will be spent on the completion of these projects. He stated that construction on the Institute of Urology and Transplant in Rawalpindi will be started in the next financial year at a total estimated cost of Rs 3 billion.
Moreover, the liver transplantation department of the Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore is being expanded at a cost of Rs 16 crore.
He said practical steps had been taken with regard to reforms about services structures, special pay packages and special package provides to doctors, nurses and the paramedical staff.
