Partly cloudy weather with windstorm forecast

The local meteorological department on Sunday forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of dust raising winds for the provincial metropolis during the next 24 hours.  Weather pundits said that yesterday’s trough of westerly wave over northern parts of the country has moved away. Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and adjoining areas. The experts predicted that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, however dust thunderstorm/light rain is expected at isolated places of Rawalpindi, Malakan, Hazara, Banu divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Maximum temperature in the metropolitan city was recorded at 41.4 degree celsius and minimum 27.5 while relative humidity remained at 34 percent in the morning and 27 percent in the evening.
PHP recovers
narcotics, illegal weapons: Punjab Highway Patrol arrested 177 criminals and recovered a huge quantity of narcotics and illegal weapons in May last.
A spokesman for the PHP said on Sunday that officials arrested 40 culprits and recovered 34 pistols, four rifles, seven guns, 18 magazines and 626 bullets. The officials also arrested 73 drug peddlers and recovered 4,593kg of charas, 35 liters liquor, 100 grams of heroin and 125 grams of opium.
The PHP arrested 64 robbers and recovered stolen wood worth Rs 316,000, three cattle and five mobile phones, the spokesman added.
