The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CNG Association, on the intervention of Awami National Party’s Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, on Sunday announced an end to the strike, directing all members to resume supply to its customers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CNG Association President Pervez Khattak announced calling off the strike in presence of Bilour. However, he said the strike was being called off conditionally and would resume within three days if the government did not accept their demands. Khattak thanked Bilour for intervening and was hopeful that he would help them resolve the matter. To a question he said they were well aware of the hardships of the customers, therefore, they were honouring Bilour’s request. Senator Bilour thanked Khattak and his colleagues for calling off the strike. He said owners of CNG stations were valuable members of trade and business community and he was determined to protect their interests as well. After calling off the strike, the CNG stations were opened and gas supply to vehicles was resumed after a break of around six days. Meanwhile, the Oil Tankers Association also withdrew its strike from Monday to show solidarity with the CNG association.
