Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Sunday said general elections would be held on time and those propagating against the popularity of Pakistan People’s Party should see the results of by-elections.
Addressing a public rally after inauguration ceremony of a road between Kawaspur and Denga, the minister said those claiming popularity and demanding early elections should hold general elections to make clear the parties’ position.
He said Nawaz and Shahbaz Shairf had harmed the federation by indulging into politics of provincialism.
Kaira said why did the Sharifs not think about poor countrymen when the entire Sharif family left the country after signing a deal with a dictator.
The minister said the vilification campaign launched by the Punjab government against the federation was tantamount to rebellion
He said that PPP leadership had never compromised on its principles and issues of national interests.
The minister said the PPP drew its support from the people, which was why it was not afraid of calls of long march.
He said the credit of landmark constitutional amendments, NFC Award and giving constitutional identity to Pashtuns, provincial autonomy to Gilgit-Baltistan and taking practical steps for giving rights to Balochistan went to the democratic PPP government.
He said the government wanted to resolve the issues of Balochistan through mutual understanding, as the country was not in a position to face political confrontation.
Kaira said the government had nothing to do with the case of Arsalan Iftikhar.
