Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif and PML likeminded Chairman Hamid Nasir Chattha had a one-on-one meeting here on Saturday. The two leaders discussed the country’s political situation, the future strategy and seat adjustment during the next elections in the “ice-breaking” meeting. Later, they were joined by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Nisar Ali Khan, Amir Muqam, Mehtab Khan Abbasi, Farid Toofan, Salim Saifullah and Humayun Akhtar. Sources said both leaders agreed to form a committee comprising members from the two parties to work out the seat adjustment formula. They said Nawaz expressed his reservations over lack of open support by the members of likeminded group during protest in the National Assembly. Chattha and other leaders of the likeminded were of the view that in future their members would extend whole-hearted support to the PML-N on all issues.
Nawaz told them that together they had to devise a strategy to get success in the next elections and take the country out of the current crises. He said a single party could not rid the country of the problems, stressing the need to gather all patriotic people on a single platform. Later, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif briefed the PML-N president about important targets of the Punjab budget while Nisar briefed Nawaz about the budget debate in parliament and the political situation.
