The gruesome incident of five female tourists being allegedly raped by Border Military Police officials in Dera Ghazi Khan took a nasty turn late on Saturday when several dozen tribesmen attacked a police station and got freed three of the cops accused of rape by the victim girls.
Following breaking of the news, the Fort Munro superintendent of police had arrested three of the five officials accused of raping five girls who came to Fort Munro from Lahore for a recreational visit. Police have registered a case against the attackers. Earlier, Border Military Police Commandant Tariq Basra had told reporters that the girls had been stopped by the accused security officials on the pretext of checking. The cops later took the girls to a police station and five of them subjected them to gang rape.
The commandment had said a team had been formed to investigate the matter while medical checkup of the girls had also been ordered. He had said the accused policemen had been suspended and raids were being carried out to arrest the accused. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had also taken notice of the incident and directed the DG Khan commissioner to submit a report into the incident at the earliest.
