A band of gangsters gunned down at least four people when citizens got hold of one of their accessories while they were stealing in Sohrab Goth area of the city.
The members of local Khidmat Aman Committee based in Sohrab Goth’s Al-Asif Square captured a thief red-handed at Afghan Adda. The committee members were transporting the criminal to the police station aboard a rickshaw when his armed accomplices ambushed them.
The saboteurs opened fire to free the captured man, killing Khidmat Committee’s Chairman Irshad Mehsud, two brothers Khair Alam, Muhammed Alam, and their cousin Sher Alam.
The assailing gunmen took away their partner in crime. Later on, the bodies of the deceased were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Police are in search for the criminals. Following the killings, the police raided Afghan Basti and took in custody over 20 people.
