Taking notice of mushroom growth of restaurants and Shisha centres in residential area of the federal capital, Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik on Friday constituted a special task force to initiate legal action against the violators.
The Islamabad deputy commissioner will supervise the task force. The task force is assigned to take legal action in the matter for implementation of CDA rules and also to identify any lapses within the framework of CDA rules and laws pertaining to commercial activities in residential areas. To review the progress of implementation of CDA rules regarding misuse of residential area, the advisor on Interior Rehman Malik on Friday chaired a meeting at the interior ministry. Besides others, the meeting was attended by chief commissioner, deputy commissioner and Inspector General of Police, Islamabad.
During the meeting the advisor was briefed that primarily three types of violations are taken place in the federal capital which includes restaurants, shops and guest houses. The meeting also observed that some of the restaurants are still violating the rules pertaining to use of shisha inside (within enclosed premises). It has been decided that in addition to fine, all possible legal measures shall be adopted. The concerned SHO shall be personally responsible for implementation of the laws regarding shisha. The advisor on interior directed the Islamabad administration that issue should be resolved in an amicable manner. However, if owner does not follow legal course/rules, action be initiated against them. Therefore, all those who have violated CDA rules pertaining to commercial activities in residential areas are advised to immediately cease the same and follow the law. These restaurants and other commercial activities pose a security risk to the residents and are also a cause of public nuisance. It has been decided that security of residents as well as their peace shall be accorded top priority and therefore illegal commercial activities shall be checked. It was also observed that some restaurants also allow use of personal liquor in violation of the relevant laws. It was decided that violators shall be dealt strictly accordance to law. After reviewing the general law and order situation of the Federal Capital, the advisor on interior appreciated the efforts of chief commissioner, deputy commissioner, Islamabad and the inspector general of police for maintaining law and order situation.
