Haj corruption case: govt assures SC of Hussain Asghar’s return

The government has informed the Supreme Court that notice had been issued to Hussain Asghar for quitting his job from Gilgit-Baltistan and to return immediately for investigating into the Haj corruption case. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the proceedings of the case on Friday. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Khushnood Akhtar Lashari and Attorney General Irfan Qadir appeared before the court during proceedings of the case.
They informed the court that the Establishment secretary had issued a notice to Hussain Asghar for quitting his job as the Gilgit-Baltistan IG immediately and stern action would be taken if he did not return. The chief justice said to the attorney general in a light mood, “Very good, you are managing implementation of court orders and you are becoming excellent, attorney general.” The court then adjourned the hearing until June 20.
