Opp tried but failed to malign govt: Hashmi

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) central leader and Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Syed Asif Hashmi has said all the attempts of the opposition to malign the federal government have met their end. In a statement issued on Thursday, he said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was making a fool out of the public by sitting in a tent, adding that the PPP, along with its coalition partners, will fulfill all the promises it made with the people.
Hashmi said the PPP-led government under President Asif Ali Zardari was performing well, while the Sharif brothers were hatching conspiracies to destabilise the central government through their smear campaign against the PPP leadership.
He said it was PPP that gave a democratic constitution to the country and it knew how to protect it, adding that the sacrifices made the party for the restoration of democracy in the country were second to none.
He said the party leadership was following the vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to steer the country out of all types of challenges on internal and external fronts. He said the PPP workers were standing with their leaders and all the conspiracies against the government will fail at the end.
