Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday demanded Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Kayani to ensure that the name of armed forces was not misused by a property mafia.
Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House, he said by walking away from the bench, the chief justice had done a good thing to disassociate himself from the case pertaining to alleged corruption of his son. He said Malik Riaz had tried to blackmail all politicians, generals, journalists, lawyers and bureaucracy and had now tried to influence the chief justice. Nisar said the Pakistan Army belonged to entire nation and it should disassociate itself from the Defence Housing Authority. Nisar said that there should be accountability of huge money distributed by Malik Riaz. Announcing further steps for the ongoing agitation against the government, he said they would take out a protest rally outside the Prime Minister’s House as the rulers had been oblivious to the basic public problems. “A civilized government would have quitted. The public’s woes have not touched upon the hearts of incompetent rulers while the whole country is passing through a phase of uncertainty,” he lamented. He said they would force them to honour the court’s verdicts. The court would decide whether the CJ’s son had taken favours or not but the people hoping to malign the judiciary would be disappointed, he declared.
