Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan told the Punjab Assembly on Thursday that the government was taking special steps to provide security to the jewellers in the city.
Replying to a call attention notice issued by PML-Q parliamentary party leader Chaudhry Zaheerud Din, he said though banks and big markets have their own security arrangements but small markets, especially jewellers shops, needed security measures.
The minister was asked to apprise the House about the developments in the robbery case which took place at Adnan Jewellers, Karim Block, Allama Iqbal Town where robbers looted ten-tolas worth of gold, Rs 50 million and injured the owner Adnan and his nephew Sajjad on resistance.
The minister said the Gulshan-e-Ravi police had nabbed an accused Zulfiqar, alias Manna, and that the stolen gold will be recovered soon.
Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan who was chairing the session, disposed off another call attention notice moved by Khawaja Muhammed Islam as he was not present in the House.
