The officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) told the Supreme Court on Thursday that evidence was available against Ali Musa Gilani, son of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, in the ephedrine scandal.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heading a three-member bench of the Supreme Court, enquired from the ANF about the progress in the case. In reply, ANF Investigation Officer Brigadier Fahim told the bench that evidence was available against Musa Gilani, and added that this was the first scandal which was being overlooked by the federation itself. Brig Fahim further told the court that there was embezzlement worth Rs 7 billion in the scandal. On an application filed by drug manufacturers and chemists of being harassed by the ANF, the chief justice directed the ANF to work as per the law and not harass anyone. The hearing of the case was adjourned for three weeks.
