Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed on Wednesday said that second phase of anti-dengue mosquito spray drive would be started in the rural areas of the capital from June 11.
He said that 11 anti-mosquito spray teams headed by the assistant commissioners and magistrates have been constituted to carry out fumigation in the rural areas.
According to details, Amer Ali Ahmed reviewed the progress of first phase of anti-dengue drive launched in the rural areas of Islamabad from March, 31, 2012 to April, 17, 2012, at a meeting under his chairmanship. In charge, Dengue Control Cell, Dr Najeeb Durrani, told the participants that anti-mosquito spray in 224 specific areas was carried out during the first phase of drive. He said that first phase of anti mosquito drive also included those areas from where positive cases of dengue were reported during the last year. He further said that community mobilisation was also under way and 70,000 pamphlets regarding preventive measures against dengue were distributed while seminars on dengue control and prevention were held at the Rural Health Centers during the first phase of the drive.
