Power shortfall reaches 4655MW

Electricity shortfall in the entire country has reached 4655 mega watts due to which 11 hours of load shedding is being carried out in cities and 18 hours in rural areas.
According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) authority the production of electricity 12,000 mega-watts where as demand is 16700 mega watts.
Hydrel power generation stands at 4637 mega watts; Thermal at 1398 mega watts and Rental powerhouses contributes 5794 mega watts to the national grid.
700 mega watts are being supplied to Karachi.
Due to increase demand of electricity the load shedding duration have reached severe levels both in urban and rural areas.
