Police set out to trace Maulana Aziz’s mother

Following the directions of the Supreme Court, the Islamabad police on Wednesday registered two FIRs against the alleged abductions of chief cleric of Lal Mosque, Maulana Abdul Aziz’s mother, and a citizen in 2007 army operation.
The FIRs were registered on the complaints of Maulana Abdul Aziz and Muhamamd Amin. On May 4, 2012, separate complaints were lodged by 11 people against the abduction and killing of their beloved in Lal Mosque Operation. However, the police had refused to entertain their applications. Later, the said people approached Supreme Court seeking direction to the police to register cases. While hearing their case, the Supreme Court had directed ICT police to register FIRs in case they were approached by heirs of the persons who were claimed to have been missing after Lal Mosque operation. On Wednesday, Chief Cleric Lal Mosque Maulana Abdul Aziz lodged an application with Abpara police station, claiming that his mother Sahiba Khatun went missing after the Lal Mosque Operation. On this, Police registered an FIR under section 365 PPC. Similarly, the police also registered an FIR on the complaint of one Sajjad Ahmed against the alleged abduction of his brother. Sajjad claimed that his brother Amin Ahmed went missing after the Lal Mosque Operation. “We have registered FIRs and have started investigation,” said SHO Abpara Police Station.
Pervez asks PML-N to strengthen democratic system: Federal Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has urged Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz to play role for strengthening democratic system in the country.
Regretting the negative gesture shown by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz-N in the Parliament, he said that all the persons or parties should respect the supreme institutions of the country and observe the decent norms to strengthening democratic system.
Talking to PTV, he said that credit goes to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government for presenting the fifth budget in the Parliament successfully. He said that democratically elected government is working for the promotion of democracy and national institutions. Replying to a question regarding negative behavior of PML-N in the assembly, he urged the party to avoid following the politics of agitation. He asked the opposition to bring positive proposals and suggestions to solve people’s problems. The minister said that Pakistan People’s Party leadership has always taken positive measures to promote reconciliation culture to boost democratic system in the country.
