Meeting held to discuss Sindh budget

Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, and Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, co-chaired a meeting at the Governor`s House here on Tuesday evening.
A statement on Wednesday said that matters pertaining to the forthcoming provincial budget came up for discussion on the occasion. It said that the Governor and the Chief Minister were of the view that the coming Sindh budget would reflect the coordination and efforts of the coalition parties for the welfare and betterment of the people, development works in various sectors in the province, mega projects as well as for the improvement of the law and order situation in the province.
Special attention would be paid in the budget towards provision of facilities to the people, health, education, clean drinking water, expansion of road network.
It was pointed out that in the forthcoming provincial budget, steps would be taken for promotion of agriculture- based economy as well as usage of modern technologies in irrigation and agriculture sectors. Necessary funds would be allocated for improvement of infrastructure to attract investment. Facilities would also be made available to women, youth and the minorities.
The Governor and Chief Minister pointed out that the government is commited to make facilities available to the people in the province without any discrimination.
It would be ensured that required funds are made available for the establishment of new universities in the province. Efforts would also be made to ensure that there is no hurdle in imparting primary to higher level education as well as research.
The meeting was also attended by provincial ministers Pir Mazhar ul Haq, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Syed Sardar Ahmed, Abdul Rauf Siddiqui, Syed, Faisal Subzwari and the other concerned officials.
WASA workers protest for salaries: Workers of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) continued their protest against non-payment of their five-month salaries for the third day on Wednesday.
The protesters also threatened to stop supply of water to the city if their demands are not fulfilled.
