Majority of commuters and motorists suffered on Wednesday as CNG dealers went on strike across the country against possible tax surcharge on the fuel gas from July.
Responding to a countrywide strike call given by All Pakistan CNG Association, CNG filling stations remained closed here and other major cities.
According to Chairman Sindh CNG Association Dr. Zulfiqar Yousfanai, the decision was taken in a general body meeting on the grounds that the weekly closure and growing inflation has already affected the CNG business of more than 300 association members.
The strike affected life by making it difficult for citizens to make it to offices and schools.
A large number of people, especially office-goers, factory workers and students, were seen waiting at bus stops.
Commuters, mostly women at various bus stops, said the strike call created problems for them.
Meanwhile CNG dealers called upon the government to refrain from imposing any possible surcharge tax over the fuel from July which may eventually result in hike in transport fares.
