Robbers looted jewellery worth Rs 8 million from a jewellery shop in Shad Bagh Main Market in broad daylight on Monday.
Police said two robbers entered Muhammad Jamil’s jewellery shop and asked to see some jewellery sets. In the meantime, 10 of their accomplices stormed the shop and took the security guard and the owner hostage at gunpoint.
They collected 1,600 grams of gold bars, ornaments, cash and cell phones. They also tortured the jewellers for putting up resistance.
They fled on a car and several motorcycles within 10 minutes of committing the crime.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and collected evidence from the crime scene.
The CCTV cameras installed in the shop were found to be out of order.
