RAC arranges paintings exhibition by medical students

The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) arranged a painting exhibition by the students of Rawalpindi Medical College here on Tuesday. The exhibition was divided into two categories: calligraphy and paintings. Mrs Prof Dr Musadiq Khan and Dr Syed Irfan inaugurated the exhibition while Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director Waqar Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
More than 20 students participated in the exhibition featuring calligraphy, landscape, sketches, abstract and buildings. Oil paint and water color, pencil and collage were the medium of 73 art pieces which were put on display by Shifa Arts, Rawalpindi Medical College, says a press release issued here by RAC.
It said that renowned artist Zia Zaedi from NCA and Zarar Hyder Babari from Fatima Jinnah Women University were invited as judges for the competition.
According to the decision of judges, in category of calligraphy, Awais Zia got first and Ali Raza secured second position. In open category, Sara bagged first, Anum Bashir second while Biya Habib succeeded in securing third prize.
After inaugural ceremony, Mrs Musadiq Khan applauded the efforts of Shifa Arts and its organisers Marryam Noor Malik, Farhan Liaqat, Samar Rizvi, Rana Usman, Ali Raza and Abdul Nafay and said that extra-curriculum activities provide mental relaxation to the students from regular work. She further said that medical profession is also a tough job but the inner qualities come into surface with the passage of time. Naheed Manzoor was also of the view that Rawalpindi Arts Council is big platform for young generation to introduce their art work in a benefiting manner.
It is a difficult task to spare some time for such kind of work from medical profession, she further said. A large number of art lover from Rawalpindi/Islamabad attended the exhibition.
