Prolonged power outages in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday compelled the people to observe a shutter-down strike and stage violent protests across the province. Dozens of enraged people went on a rampage in WAPDA Colony in Bannu during a shutter-down strike, damaging public and private properties in protest against load shedding. Two protestors were injured when police resorted to aerial and teargas shell firing to disperse the infuriated mob. In Charsadda, traders took out a rally and staged a sit-in at the city’s central market, carrying a symbolic coffin to protest against the unannounced load shedding. They chanted slogans against the rulers and called for an early resolution of the power crisis.
