Nine gunned down in fresh spate of violence

At least nine people were killed and over dozen injured, including three women in separate firing incidents across the metropolis on Monday. A man was shot dead at the paper market in Kharadar. Police said robbers shot dead a man near Jheel Park over resistance. One person was killed and another injured in the Garden area of the city while firing in the Old City area claimed another life while six were injured. Firing in the North Nazimabad area of the city claimed one life while a security guard was shot and killed in the Defence area. A body was also recovered from the Sohrab Goth area of Karachi. Three people were injured during firing incidents in Gulistan-e-Jahur, PIB Colony, and Nazimabad areas while three women were injured on University road. Meantime, various city areas including Garden, Pan Mandi, Napier Road, and Kharadar are tense with business and commercial activities brought to a standstill in protest in the wake of firing incidents. Tension overnight prevailed in Pan Mandi area after miscreants riding over a dozen motorbikes resorted to intense indiscriminate firing.
