A Pakistani journalist based in Washington has claimed that some business tycoons in connivance with the PPP government have brewed a familygate against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
According to the journalist who was interviewed by a video site named Washington Beat, “Judiciary is under attack and the battle between the judiciary and stigmatic politicians is reaching decisive face now.”
“It was a big plan which is almost implemented and is now in final stage,” the journalist said.
According to the journalist, the chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s son (against whom former president Pervez Musharraf made a reference) has now reportedly connived with certain people to draw millions of rupees as bribe.
He has claimed that the CJ’s son was trapped in a so-called business, and was offered foreign trips. Some of the foreign trips were also enjoyed by some other family members in addition to the CJ’s son. “The planners of the trap had given the CJ’s family credit cards and were keeping the records of the spending, accordingly. “According to my information those people have made videos of the CJ’s son taking bribes and spending money provided to him in the name of business investment,” he added.
According to the journalist, the entire plan was orchestrated to compel the CJ to decide in favour of the PPP government in corruption and other cases against its leadership. “And in case the CJ does not give up then this (scam) would be brought to the light,” the journalist added.
“This is clear that the CJ’s son was doing a business and used to claim that he has been doing it very well and he and his family were spending the earnings of that business,” the journalist observed.
To a question he said, “I don’t think that the CJ himself was aware of the entire details of his son’s business. Now I have heard that he is under stress and may go to the extent of denouncing and dissociating from his son if he comes under focus of this scam,” the journalist claimed.
According to the journalist, the CJ’s son received Rs 300 to Rs 400 million from the business people who trapped him in the name of business investment.
The journalist claimed that besides a number of people back in Pakistan of his community, number of key PPP politicians including Information Minister Qmar Zaman Kaira and Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan were fully aware of this issue.
