A court on Monday reserved its judgment in a petition calling for the registration of a case against Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani. The petition, filed by Nauman Ahmed, said he had been promised a job by AQ Gilani who had instead deprived the petitioner of nearly Rs 400,000. The petitioner had also alleged that he had been threatened with dire consequences in case he demanded back the amount he had paid. The petitioner stated the accused was an influential member of the society and that the police had not taken any steps to provide him relief. Additional District and Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Shaikh heard the arguments of both the parties and subsequently reserved its verdict. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till June 9.
So much for the much touted independent judiciary.
