Control rooms set up to moniter anti-polio drive

Special control rooms have been set up in district coordination and commissioner offices to monitor the five-day anti-polio drive kicked off here on Tuesday while 1360 mobile teams have started administrating anti-polio drops to the children under five years age.
Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal told that all out efforts would be made to make the anti-polio campaign successful.
He said the micro plan formulated in this regard by Health Department is being implemented in letter and spirit to meet the target.
The EDO said that all the health officers have been directed to ensure their presence in the field so that the required results could be achieved, making the district polio free. He urged the parents to come forward and play their role for the elimination of the crippling disease from the society.
EDO Health Dr Zafar Iqbal said throughout the country only 16 cases of polio were reported while no case could be witnessed in Punjab especially in Rawalpindi division.
He said training programmes were also arranged for teachers performing duties in polio campaign.
The citizens particularly parents role is very important to make the anti-polio campaign a success so they should come forward to make efforts for the elimination of the crippling disease from the society. Strict action on negligence of the duty would also be taken, he added.
He further said that along with the mobile teams, special vaccination centers in health centers and hospitals of the district have been set up. Special counters at public parks, railway station, bus stands, wagon stands, airport and other transit points have also been arranged where teams are available to administer anti-polio drops to the children so that no child up to the age of five years could remain unattended. The parents should cooperate with the special teams so that the set target could be achieved.
