US embassy ventures in GB raised eyebrows

The frequent back to back visits of US embassy officials to Gilgit Baltistan have raised many eyebrows as the political and social circles demanded of the government to bring forth the objectives behind such covert activities in the sensitive area.
According to diplomatic sources on Sunday, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jammat i Islami and Jammiat Ulema e Islam-F have conveyed their concerns to the government over secret initiatives undertaken by the US embassy officials in GB.
It was revealed by sources that the current three-member high level embassy delegation stay in GB for five days was aimed at instigating the nationalist elements against China and supporting separation movement in the area.
After a visit of two US embassy females and security advisers to the area, the outgoing US ambassador Cameron Munter followed from June 7 to June 10, strengthened the belief that something ‘fishy’was afoot.
The US officials held secret meetings with separatist elements assuring them of Washington support for their movement in case they agreed to dissipate Chinese influence in the region.
During their visit, the delegations held meetings with GB chief minister, ministers, educational institutes and human rights organizations. The visit was initially planned as a three day affair but they prolonged it to five days, holding back door negotiations with certain parties.
The political leadership of PML-N, JI and JUI-F, taking strong exception to such ventures demanded the government immediately probe into the matter and bring real facts before the nation.
