Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said that as many as 37,412 emergency victims were rescued by the emergency service during the month of May.
The emergency data revealed that the Service has rescued over 37412 victims of emergencies while carrying out 38613 rescue operations during last month in 36 cities of Punjab, while maintaining its average response time. The DG chairing a meeting held to review performance of the emergency operations of all the districts of Punjab said it is being observed that the numbers of emergencies are increasing day by day.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 13186 Road Traffic Accidents, 21390 Medical emergencies, 1790 Fire incidents, 61 Building Collapse incidents, 1950 Crime, 98 Drowning Incidents, 129 Special Rescue Operations and nine Explosions.
These 38,613 rescue operations in the month included 6973 rescue operations in Lahore, 3904 in Faisalabad, 2929 in Multan, 2505 in Gujranwala, 1497 in Bahawalpur, 1166 in Rawalpindi, 1382 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 1180 in Sargodha, 814 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1260 in Sahiwal, 1146 in Sialkot, 425 in Murree, 1360 in Jhang, 545 in Toba Tek Singh, 701 in Muzafargarh, 491 in Rajanpur, 503 in Mianwali, 630 in Pakpattan, 678 in Kasur, 447 in Gujrat, 649 in Bahawalnagar, 306 in Jehlum, 711 in Attock, 660 in Khanewal, 423 in Vehari, 301 in Chakwal, 657 in Okara, 542 in Hafizabad, 682 in Sheikhupura, 749 in Lodhran, 356 in Nankana Sahib, 372 in Khushab, 295 in Mandibaha-ud-din, 531 in Narowal, 397 in Layyah and 446 in Bhakkar.
The Emergency Service, Rawalpindi responded 1166 emergencies and rescued 1052 victims of different emergencies in May. The Rescue Service responded to 522 Road Traffic Accidents, 89 Fire Incidents, 34 Crime Calls, three Drowning Incidents and 512 to Medial Emergencies in District Rawalpindi.
The Director General requested the citizens to immediately dial 1122 in case of any emergency because only timely call especially in case of a fire emergency is extremely essential for restricting fire from getting out of control.
Official injured in attack in Shopian: Unidentified persons shot at and injured an official in Shopian district of Indian Held Territory on Sunday morning.
According to Kashmir Media Service, unknown persons attacked the official, a Sarpanch, in Keller area of the district causing him multiple injuries on both legs. He was shifted to District Hospital, Shopian, where from he was referred to Bones and Joint Hospital, Srinagar, for specialised treatment.

Temperature recorded in different cities of the country was: Lahore and Faisalabad 45C, Multan 46C, Islamabad 41C, Murree 27C, Peshawar 42C, Karachi and Quetta 35C and Muzaffarabad 42C.
