Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa was promoted from General Officer Commanding (GOC) to Director General Inter Service Public Relations (DG-ISPR) today. This promotion was implemented a month before its scheduled time. Major Bajwa was promoted taking into account his excellent efforts toward tackling problems of terrorism and extremism in Mangla and Wana. He has been dedicated to the arms forces and has been involved in several projects including the triple-one Brigade of Chaklala Corps in 2007-8.
His contributions are not limited to the army, in fact he has been acknowledged by General (r) Pervez Musharraf for his help in compiling and authoring Musharraf’s autobiography “In the Line of Fire”. Major Bajwa as GD-ISPR is likely to improve the army’s image as he has always been a popular member and has been respected by his colleagues and subordinates throughout.
