Former Pakistan World Cup winning captain Imran Khan on Sunday condemned the breaking down of a wall at the Gaddafi Stadium by the Gulberg Town Municipal Administration (TMA), Lahore.
The TMA had torn down the wall this month saying that it was an illegal construction, after which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took the matter to the Lahore High Court (LHC).
PCB officials said that the court had passed an order allowing the PCB to rebuild the wall, and that was all it had done. The TMA said that the court had ordered the PCB not to do any “fresh construction”, which was what the wall constituted. Talking to a private news channel, Imran said Gaddafi Stadium is an international stadium and such things shouldn’t happen.
“Gaddafi Stadium is a place from where we (players) started cricket and became stars. So I strongly condemn this wall breaking incident,” Imran said. He further said he is hopeful that in future such type of things won’t happen as the PCB would do all-out efforts to see that the same doesn’t happens in the near future.
