DJ College teachers agree to end their examination boycott

Teachers of D.J. Science College on persuasion of Karachi Commissioner, Roshan Ali Shaikh, have agreed to discontinue with their boycott and administer intermediate exams on college premises, designated examination center for higher secondary school exams, from Monday. Faculty members of the college, supported by other relevant staff, had communicated to the concerned authorities about their decision not to assist in examination process consequent to manhandling of their colleagues by candidates and their supporters during ongoing exams. It was not only that allegedly abusive language was used against teachers of the college who had disallowed use of inappropriate means by the candidates but they were also threatened of serious consequences, with one of the senior teachers allegedly subjected to severe manhandling after the paper by some of the students and their supporters. The teaching staff of the D.J. College who were approached by the Karachi Commissioner were assured that the unfortunate episode would not be allowed to be repeated and that culprits involved in injuring their colleague have also been arrested, later agreed to resume their responsibilities from Monday.
