Mango Festival 2012 from 4th, all arrangements completed

All arrangements to celebrate three- day National Mangoes and Summer Fruit Festival were completed by the district administration and Mango Festival Committee here on Saturday.
The participants’ registration process will end on June 3. About 400 growers from all over Sindh are expected to participate in the Festival.
A Meena Bazar for women along with an entertainment fair for them as part of the Mango Festival, was inaugurated by MPA Shamim Ara Phanwar here on Saturday. About 200 mango varieties including famous varieties and king of fruit Sindhri, Langra, Chonsa, Desri, Nelam, Anwer Ratol, Saleh Bahi, Began Pali, Gulab Khasa and others were displayed in the stalls of Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Mango Exhibition Hall.
According to event schedule cash prizes, shields and certificates would also be distributed among successful growers of different categories to promote mango production in Sindh.
Commissioner Mirpurkhas Haji Ghulam Hussain Memon, President of the Mangoes and Summer Fruit Festival 2012 told APP here on Saturday that the Festival will be held from June 4 to 6 with all arrangements to make it colourful and more charming for the citizens of Mirpurkhas and other participants from across Sindh as well as upcountry.
He further said that more than 50 stalls of different NGOs, government departments and private companies were also being installed in the exhibition hall. He said that besides recreation and sports competitions, on June 5 a knowledgeable seminar on higher mango production will also be held at the State Life Insurance Building’s Hall Mirpurkhas in which agriculture experts would read their papers.
The Commissioner said that the central air conditioning system of mango exhibition hall is also being repaired and Agriculture Department Mirpurkhas was using all its resources to make the event more successful than the previous one.
He further said that district Mirpurkhas was the worst affected district of Sindh due to last year’s flood. As a result more than 50 percent of mango orchards had been badly damaged in the district while many owners of the mango orchards were compelled to cut their destroyed mango trees. However despite this damage, many growers have expressed their willingness to participate in mango competition and we are providing facilities to the interested growers.
The mango growers taking part in competition include Faisal Kachehlo, Anwer Gondal Farm, Nawazabad Farm, Umer Bughio Farm, Nusratabad Farm, Arif Bhurgari Farm, Rais Ahmed Khan Farm, Sindh Horticulture Research Institute Mirpurkhas, Mirpurkhas Gymkhana Club Farm, Khair Mohammad Bhurgari Farm, Najma Lashari Farm, Haji Mir Zafarullah Talpur Farm, Seth Ajay Kumar Farm, Gabool Farm, Seth Khobchand Farm, Allah Bachayo Rajar Farm, Nabi Bux Leghari Farm etc.
