The Punjab Environment Protection department in collaboration with Eco Green organised a seminar on Saturday at the Punjabi Complex Alhamara on the World Environment Day.
Punjab Environment Secretary Saeed Iqbal Wahlah was the chief guest while Maqsod Ahmed Lak, DG EPD, Akhtar H Awan, Eco Green President Farhan Awan, Sheikh Anwarul Haq, LCCI executive member Sumaira Awan, Eco Green secretary general and a large number of participants attended the seminar.
Professor Semal Ijaz gave a presentation to explain the importance of green economy and solutions to tackle the environmental challenges faced by the country. She also represented the past ten years in a comparison of different themes of the World Environment Day.
Addressing the participants, Eco Green President Akhtar Awan said it was the right time to do something for the betterment of environment. He said every individual had to come forward to bring a change and to end environmental pollution.
Awan said the government should also come forward and start projects for energy production which should be environment friendly.
He said solar and wind technology was the need of the hour as a majority of industries were bound to use tyres and plastic scrap as fuel due to power load shedding.
Environment Secretary Saeed Wahlah said the government, the media and NGOs could play a pivotal role to create awareness about the protection of the environment.
