A fire that engulfed 20 workshops in the Tarbela Power House in Haripur district was brought under control on Friday.
According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Power, the power plant’s electricity supply into the national grid was restored after the technical fault that had forced the system shut was repaired.
Although no damage to machinery and equipment of the power plant was reported, supply of 1833 MW of electricity to the national grid was forced suspended after a technical fault developed in the system tripping it, according to the spokesman.
Emergency response teams reached the site along with Wapda experts and brought the situation under control after making continuous efforts, the spokesman added. Two helicopters and several fire engines had been employed to put the fire out and supply of electricity was restored back into the national grid in phases.
