The Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Friday, elected Senator Nasreen Jalil unopposed as chairperson of the Committee.
Her name was proposed as chairperson of the committee by Senator Islamuddin Shaikh and seconded by Senators Muhammad Talha Mehmood and Saeed Ghani.
The proceedings of the election were conducted by Secretary Senate Iftikhar ullah Babar, in accordance with the Rule 184 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012.
Members of the Committee Congratulated the new Chairperson on her election and assured her of their cooperation in the running the affairs of the Committee. Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Ali Baloch and Leader of the House in the Senate Muhammad Jehangir Badar who were present on the occasion also extended warm felicitations to Senator Nasreen Jalil on her unopposed election.
Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected Chairperson of the Committee thanked the members for reposing confidence in her and reiterated the resolve to work with honesty and devotion. Senator Nasreen Jalil said that she would seek guidance from experienced members of the Committee and would take every member along.
The meeting was attended among others by Senators Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani, Saeed Ghani, Osman Saifullah Khan, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Kalsoom Parveen, Islamuddin Sheikh, Muhammad Talha Mehmood besides Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Ali Baloch and Leader of the House in the Senate Muhammad Jehangir Badar. Special Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez was also present on the occasion.
