Gilani wants to take Pakistan-India ties forward

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that his government attached importance to its ties with India, and expressed the desire to build momentum to carry the bilateral relations forward in a constructive manner. He was talking to Salman Bashir, Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to India, who called on him at the PM’s House prior to his departure to India to assume his new diplomatic assignment. Gilani also praised Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh with whom he said he had held several constructive meetings. He directed Salman Bashir to work for the improvement of relations and also convey his personal regards and best wishes to the Indian prime minister and Sonia Gandhi, president of the Indian National Congress.
