Daily Asas, News Mart, Jang, Waqt TV, Bureaus XI and Sindi Media XI thrash their opponents on the opening day of Ufone Inter-Media Cricket tournament at MNA Hostel Cricket Ground here
Under the auspices of National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad and collaboration with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Capital Development Authority (CDA), 37 teams are taking part in week long event which played on knock out basis.
Chairman CDA Engineer Farkhand Iqbal was the chief guest of opening ceremony who plays a shot to inaugurate the media tournament while President National Press Club (NPC) Farooq Faisal Khan, Secretary NPC Shahryar Khan, Secretary Organizing Committee Afzal Javed, Director Sports CDA I.K. Rizwan and other dignitaries were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Farkhand Iqbal appreciates the NPC to organize the healthy sports activity for the journalist’s community adding that CDA will continue their support for NPC to organize the healthy activities of journalist’s community.
He said that CDA is doing more efforts for the promotion of sports in the federal capital as we allocate the land to PCB for build the international cricket stadium and construction work of stadium will starts from next month.
Meanwhile on first day of the event Daily Asas beat Daily Khabrian by 6 wickets while Daily Sama thrashed News Mart by 9 wickets and Bureaus XI won match against Journalist XI by 6 wickets.
In the fourth match, with all round performance of captain Qaiser Satti Daily Jang beat Photo Journalist XI by 8 wickets. Batting first Photo Journalist XI score 69 run for 5wickets in allotted 8 overs. In reply Jang chase the target in 5th over with loss of two wickets. Muhammad Amir 27 and Qasier Satti 23 are the notable scorer of winning side.
Waqt TV thrashed APNA TV by 7 wickets with wonderful performance of Muhammad Majid who score 64 runs for Waqt TV while Sindi Media XI beat APP by 5 wickets.
