A seventh grade student of a local school was severely beaten by his teacher for borrowing a book from his class fellow during the class, students said on Wednesday. Teacher Abdul Hameed allegedly beat Hasan Ali, who studies at the Sir Syed Secondary School, only for asking his fellow for a book during the class, students said. They said the teacher had used a stick to beat Hasan Ali and dragged him in the class after beating him. As a result of the beating, blood came out from the student’s mouth, ear and nose, class fellows said. The student was taken to a nearby hospital for first aid. The teacher denied the students’ version, saying Hasan Ali was passing insulting comments about teachers in the classroom. Hasan’s parents protested against the teacher and appealed to higher authorities to take serious notice of the incident. They said their son was afraid and had refused to attend the school.
